AOCPIN urges stakeholders to address violence against women, girls

Abdullahi Omaki Community Peace Initiatives Network (AOCPIN), has called called on stakeholders to join forces to address the global pandemic of violence against women and girls.

AOCPIN, stated this in a statement issued yesterday by Amb. Abdullahi .A Omaki, Founder/ Executive Vice Chairman.

It said, at the end of 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, governments, civil society, women’s organizations, young people, the private sector, media, and the global community should join forces.

“As we mark the crucial period of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, I am compelled to reach out and emphasize the importance of our collective commitment to this cause.”

The statement said the 16 days of activism themed “UNITE! Invest to Prevent Violence against Women & Girls”, was a wake up call to address challenges.

“Starting from November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to December 10th being the Human Rights Day, is a global campaign that seeks to unite individuals and organizations. This concerted action is a poignant reminder that gender-based violence is a pervasive issue that knows no boundaries and affects people from all walks of life.

“This annual campaign is a call to action, urging us to stand in solidarity against all forms of violence directed at women and girls. It is an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge societal norms, and advocate for meaningful change. We must use this period not only to shed light on the prevalence of gender-based violence but also to foster dialogue, education, and concrete actions that contribute to its eradication.

“Each one of us has a crucial role to play in dismantling the structures that perpetuate gender-based violence. By speaking out, educating ourselves and others, uniting our efforts to support survivors, and holding perpetrators accountable, we can collectively create a world where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and equity.

“Let us seize this moment, to reflect on our own roles, both individually and collectively, in promoting a culture of zero tolerance for gender-based violence. Through our joint efforts, we can contribute to building a safer, more just world for everyone.

“May these 16 Days of Activism serve as a catalyst for positive change and inspire ongoing commitment to the cause for a fight against the 16days against gender based silent.”
