About Us

The Network seeks to promote Community Initiatives for Peace, good governance, human rights and development through sustained advocacy engagements as Alternative Disputes Resolution Mechanism (ADRM) as well as Interests Based Negotiations Mechanism (IBNM). These mechanisms are aimed at prioritising peace building in communities, nationally and within the sub-region. As a non-governmental and non-for-profit think-tank, this network would seek to strengthen the capacity and skills of the community influencers to prevent conflicts, as well as manage them whenever they occur. Similarly, The Network, shall in its interventions and programs, continuously collaborate and partner withmulti-dimensionalstakeholders, namely the organised private sector operators, Traditional Institutions, media, Religious and Community leaders, Donor Partners as well as Governments (Federal, State and Local) as well as other National Governments in the sub-region. Attainment of peace and security at the level of communities and nationally, are critical prerequisites that enable governance at all levels to impact positively on the lives of the citizenry.

The facilitation of peace at the level of Communities, is central to strengthening the capacities of Communities generally as well as of other national governments in the sub-region, in promoting peace through conflict prevention, management as well as their resolutions. The attainment of this objective would impact the Communities as well as their national governments. If these efforts succeed in Nigeria, if will mark the emergence of Nigeria as an exemplary leader in the sub-region in driving the sub-regional peace agenda that would ultimately allow the sub-regional governments to focus on deepening democracy and confronting the developmental challenges for the overall growth of these entities and region.

Crises and chaos are fundamental threats to peace and stability of societies, which in turn negatively impact socio-economic and political development and progress of the communities/societies and of nations. Managing these complexities, necessitates the emplacement of appropriate set of mechanisms to deliberately and collaboratively engage, in concerted and creative advocacies that are aimed at improving or enhancing understanding and harmony between and amongst members of the community/society.

In a nutshell, sincedisagreements and disputes are integral components of humankind, this Network, operating as a non-governmental organisation, would leverage on varietyof the back-grounds of its Trustees, for a whole of the society-approach, through creative and enhanced collaborative community engagements that strengthen societal harmony and understanding through peace-building and adroit management of conflicts.
