NPHC


The National Peace and Harmony Council (NPHC), is a creation of the Abdullahi Omaki Community Peace Initiatives Network (AOCPIN). In recognition of the growing need for effective mechanisms to foster, contain, restore, and build peace and harmony within our communities and the nation, this mandate establishes the National Peace and Harmony Council(NPHC). The decision to establish this is a proactive one by the Abdullahi Omaki Community Peace Initiatives Network (AOCPIN), dedicated to serving as a dynamic and responsive body of Nigerians, committed to addressing, managing, and preventing crises that threaten the fabric of our society and the general well-being of our people as well as building peace for sustainable national unity and development of Nigeria, as well as the West Africa sub-region and our contiguous neighboring countries. The activities of the NPHC are therefore, expected to reflect the Vision and Mission as well as the Core objectives of its Founding Organization. For ease of the implementation of the activities of the NPHC, AOCPIN shall have four of its Board of Trustee members join the Council.

Ambassador Zubairu Dada (CON, FNIM, FNIPR) is a distinguished Nigerian diplomat with over four decades of experience in Public Service and Diplomacy. He holds a B.A. in English/French and a Graduate Certification in Education from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, as well as an M.A. in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos.

Ambassador Dada’s career is marked by significant contributions at both National and International levels. He began his professional journey with the National Youth Service Corps in Lagos State and later served as the Pioneer Hansard Editor for the Niger State Legislature. His roles included Information Officer in Sokoto, Permanent Secretary, Director of MAMSER, and Director of the National Orientation Agency.

Ambassador Dada has represented Nigeria on the global stage as Ambassador to the Republic of Poland (1999-2003) and High Commissioner to the Republic of Mozambique, with concurrent accreditation to Madagascar and Mauritius (2004-2007). He also served as the Federal Commissioner at the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission in Abuja (2011-2016) and was appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (2019-2023).

In addition to his professional roles, Ambassador Dada has held numerous positions, including Chairman of the Niger State Merit Award Committee and Member of the Economic and Social Advisory Council of Niger State. His exemplary service has been recognized with several awards, including a National Honour as Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).

Ambassador Dada is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (FNIPR). He holds the traditional title of Makun Paiko. He is Married with children, he enjoys football, walking, lawn tennis, and golf.

Col. Lawan Gwadabe- Military Historian and Strategist. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Military History and two Masters of Arts Degrees in International Relations and History respectively from the Oklahoma State University, in the United States.

Col. Lawan Gwadabe has an impressive Military career, graduating from the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy with a Regular Combatant Commission in the rank of Second Lieutenant on September 9th 1972 with Seniority in the same rank with effect from April 16t, 1970. He rose to the substantive rank of a Colonel in 1991.

Col. Gwadabe has attended many professional courses, including the Command and Staff College, Jaji. He served in various strategic Military postings, which include: Battalion Training Officer; Battalion Adjutant; ADC to Commander Lagos Garrison Organization; Assistant Deputy Military Secretary (AHQMS) Adjutant, Nigerian Defence Academy; Colonel GS Directorate of Armour and Colonel GS Lagos Garrison Command.

Colonel Gwadabe was Managing Director, Nigerian National Shipping Lines and thereafter held a distinguished tenure as Military Governor of Niger State from1987-1991. In the wake of his positing he was appointed the Commander of the Nigerian National Guard. Other postings include: Principal Staff Officer to the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He was posted as the Chief of Army Staff of the Gambian National Army. His last posting before retirement was Commander, 23 Armoured Brigade Yola. Gwadabe was also appointed the Chairman of the Federal Road Safety Corps in 2009.

Col. Gwadabe as the PSO to the Head of State and C-in-C, was the most towering influential and charismatic figure in the Villa. He was unquestionably, the Administration’s ideas man, setting the pace as well as it’s agenda. Col Gwadabe used all his personal connections at home and abroad to buy time for the Administration in the aftermath of June 12. What was more, he did everything humanly possible to give the government a good image and wanted people to appreciate the expediency and the inevitability of its emergence. This definitely gave the government some respite from general hostility and non-cooperation.

Col. Lawan Gwadabe a committed patriot, visionaire and philanthropist has had fundamental assignment in conflict resolutions as Nigerian Special Envoy to the troubled African States of Angola, Mozambique and was indeed for four years1986-1991, Chairman of the Sudan Peace Process which provided the blue print for the Abuja Accord that formed the framework for the eventual resolution of the conflict resulting in the two countries settlement.

Married with four Children, Col. Gwadabe loves Traveling, Reading, Music, Sports and Golf.

Jideofor Adibe is a Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria. He holds degrees in political science (B.Sc, M.Sc. from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka) and a doctorate in International Development Studies from Roskilde University, Denmark. He also holds an LLM degree in Media Law from City University London and equally took courses on the New Economic Powers from Oxford University, United Kingdom.

He has held Research Fellowships at several instituttions across the world including the Centre for Development Research, Copenhagen, Denmark; the Nordic Institute for African Studies, Uppsala, Sweden and the Centre for Developing Area Studies, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He has also consulted for many organizations including the Brookings Institution, (USA), Chatham House (UK), The Conversation Africa (South Africa), the National Peace Committee (Nigeria) and the Centre for Democracy and Development (Nigeria) While living and working in London, Professor Adibe in 2003, founded Adonis & Abbey Publishers (www.adonis-abbey.com), which is today, regarded as the leading academic publisher in Africa.

Professor Adibe is also the publisher of the online newspaper, The News Chronicle (www.thenews-chronicle.com). He was equally for ten years (2010-2020), a back page columnist and Member of the Editorial Board of the Daily Trust, one of the leading Nigerian

daily newspapers. He is a syndicated columnist for The News Chronicle, The Vanguard and Premium Times, every Tuesday.

He is the author or editor of 12 books and numerous articles in peer-reviewed academic journals, newspapers/magazines and online platforms. He is also an analyst for Channels and Arise TV stations.

Amb Usman Baraya has served Nigeria in various capacities both at home and abroad for about four decades. In addition to serving in Nigerian Diplomatic Missions in Geneva, Brussels, Riyadh, London, Hong Kong, Washington, DC and Addis Ababa. He also held the following positions amongst others:

Sir. Bola Abimbola Emmanuel is a Socio-Development entrepreneur and currently serves as the Senior Program Manager and Head of Programs, Communication and Advocacy, at Savannah Centre for Diplomacy Democracy and Development (SCDDD). He has close to two decades of experience working on democracy, conflict management, public policy, community development and institutional reforms.

Through his works, he has proactively engaged institutions and critical stakeholders across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria and a few Africa countries, such as; Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Uganda, South Africa, Ethiopia, etc advocating for improved socio-economic and political ecosystems. Sir. Bola as he is fondly called, is a graduate of Psychology from the University of Jos, Nigeria.

Sir Bola is a fellow of the United State Institute of Peace Generation Change as well as the International Republican Institute Generation Democracy Fellow, amongst others.

Sule Usman Labaran attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and graduated in 1982. He was commissioned as a second Lieutenant into the Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME) of Nigerian Army in 1981. He has served as an Instructor in Nigeria Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NASEME), Military Assistant to Corps Commander NAEME, United Nations Mission in Somalia, Commanding Officer Brigade Workshop, Chief Instructor in NASEME, Colonel Logistics Staff HQ NAEME, Chief Instructor and later Deputy Commandant Nigerian Army College of Logistics. He was appointed Director General Defence Industries Corporation in 2009 and served until February 2013. He was posted to Defence Headquarters as Director Test and Evaluation in Research and Development Department. He was subsequently appointed Corps Commander NAEME on 13 February 2014, a position he held until he voluntarily retired on 30 November 2015 in the rank of Major General. He holds a Bachelors of Engineering (BEng) Degree in Electrical Engineering. He has attended various courses, seminars, workshops and served on several committees globally.

Amb. Nanpon Danjuma Sheni is a retired career diplomat who spent 35 years in the public service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Born on 19th November, 1957 in Shendam, Plateau State, Amb. Sheni obtained his first degree BA in English and linguistic from the University of Benin, Benin city in 1980, followed by an M.SC in International Relations at the then University of Ile-Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). He also obtained an LLB law from the University of Abuja, in 2006.

As a career diplomat, AMB. Sheni served in various Nigerian missions abroad- Washington DC, Brussels, Accra, Libreville, Singapore and Hong Kong where he held various leadership positions such as Acting High Commissioner, Singapore and Consul-General, Hong Kong.

He was appointed as Federal Permanent Secretary in 2014 and served in various MFAs including the Cabinent Secretariat, Ministry of foreign Affairs, Office of the Head of the Service of the Federation and the Ministry of Defence. Amb. Nanpon Danjuma Sheni has been a
member of various peace delegations.

Abdullahi Shehu Yibaikwal is a Professor of Criminology and Security Studies with vast experiences in public service, spanning over three decades across the security, intelligence, law enforcement, diplomatic services and the academia. He was Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation with Concurrent Accreditation to the Republic of Belarus. He also served as the Pioneer Director General of the Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA); a specialized institution of the ECOWAS and a FATF Style Regional Body. During his eight-year tenure, he established GIABA on a solid foundation and transformed the landscape of regional cooperation in the prevention and fight against transnational organized crime in West Africa. H made an indelible mark by facilitating the creation and effective operations of Financial Intelligence Units in 13 countries and several inter-governmental frameworks in all ECOWAS Member States. He is renowned for his leadership and excellence. 

Before assuming that position, he was Director of Training and Research in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria where he introduced model law enforcement training curriculum. Professor Shehu also had a stint with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, Austria, as Programme Expert (Anti-Corruption/Money Laundering); and in the UNODC Country Office in Nigeria, as a Senior Policy Adviser (Anti-Corruption). He was also Special Adviser to the Governor of Plateau State on Inter-Governmental Relations. He is a prolific writer with eight books and over 70 myographs and scientific publications to his credit. Through the Yibaikwal Foundation, Professor Shehu has contributed to the development of education by awarding of scholarships to hundreds of indigent students and in humanitarian assistance to victims of conflict across Nigeria.

He is an independent consultant and adviser on transnational organized crime and good governance.

Ms. Latifah Abdulsalam is a versatile and result-oriented entry-level Biochemist, driven by a passion for innovation and a commitment to making impactful changes. With a solid academic foundation in Biochemistry from Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto, Latifah has developed a strong background in Scientific Research, Quality Control, and Laboratory Practices. Her experience spans across various

sectors, including education, healthcare, and the petroleum industry.

During her time at Karo Da Goma International School, Latifah served as a Classroom Teacher, where she demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills by coordinating student activities and preparing them for standardized testing. In the healthcare sector, Latifah gained hands-on experience in Chemical Pathology at Specialist Hospital, in Sokoto State, where they conducted and managed laboratory tests critical for patient diagnoses.

Her technical expertise was further honed at Kaduna Refinery, where she worked in the Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) Department and was responsible for ensuring the quality and marketability of petroleum products, applying rigorous standards to maintain the integrity of fuel supplies.

In addition to her professional roles, Latifah has also contributed to their community through volunteer work with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, as well as serving as the Director of Gender Mobilization for the Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Association.

Latifah is proficient in data analysis, critical thinking, and laboratory practices, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. They are eager to leverage their knowledge and skills to add value to an organization that values growth, innovation, and success.

Bashiru Ahmad attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria 1984- 1988 where he obtained a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying. He has also undertaken a course work in International Contracts Law at the University West of England.

He has over 25 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Procurement Management, Construction Claims Evaluation, Development Planning & Management, Monitoring & Evaluation and Dispute Resolution on projects and programmes of varying magnitudes and complexities in Building, Civil Engineering and Socio-economic Sectors of development.

He started his career at Auchi Polytechnic where he taught under the NYSC scheme, 1988-89. He then joined Bell Quantity Surveyors and later Prime and Bell Partnership, Kaduna, as a pupil Quantity Surveyor on probation and rose to Senior Quantity Surveyor, 1989-1996. After gaining good experience, he decided to start his own practice – B & B Partnership Ltd in 1996 and have handled projects of varying sizes and complexities. In 1997, he was called to contribute to National Development by serving as a Senior Consultant and Head of Project Preparation Unit on the Petroleum (Special) Trust Fund (PTF) Programmes in Afri-Projects Consortium when they handled the PTF projects. In between the years, he has also been a part-time lecturer in the Surveying Department and lectured various courses in Quantity Surveying at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for 13 years without receiving payment in any form. He was also the industry based external examiner to Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Nasarawa State Mal. Bashiru has also served the government and people of Adamawa State (July, 2007 to October, 2008) as the Senior Special Assistant on Due Process and later Chairman State Planning Commission. He was also the  Commissioner of Works overseeing the of Housing and Urban Development, and Mineral Resources Development in (August-October) 2014.

Bashiru is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyor and the Chartered Institute of Public Administrators. He is also in various other professional bodies which includes the Society of Construction Industry Arbitrators (MSCIArb.); Institute of Directors (Nigeria) (MInstD); National Geographic Society, Netherlands (MNGS); Institue of Construction Claims Practitioners, and Project Management Institute (APMI) to mention but a few.

Bashiru was also the Secretary to the State Government in Adamawa State (2019 – 2023) where he contributed to all the meaningful policies and developments of the State in the said period. He is married with three children and his hobbies include teaching, reading and rural travels.

Murtala Abubakar is a Nigerian politician and activist who is the founder and leader of the Arewa Defense League (ADL), a political organization that advocates for the interests of the Arewa region within the context of unending regional competition in Nigeria.

Under his leadership, the ADL has been vocal on issues such as:

• Advocating for socioeconomic/political rights and interests of the Arewa people

• Promoting unity and solidarity among Arewa communities

• Addressing issues of insecurity and violence in the North

• Criticizing government policies and actions that negatively impact the North

• Supporting policies and initiatives that benefit the North

Murtala Abubakar has been a controversial figure, known for his strong views and outspoken criticism of government policies and actions. He has been involved in various political and social movements and has been arrested and detained several times for his activism.

Director General/CEO of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), Abuja, Nigeria (2014-2018). He is a highly motivated Peace and Development professional with post-graduation experience spanning over thirty years as practitioner-researcher in Environmental Movement, Policy Advocacy, Peace and Conflict Studies. Widely published. He has consulted for a wide range of clients; the UNDP, DfiD, AU, ECOWAS, GIZ, USAID, OCHA, Humanitarian Dialogue (Geneva), the Lake Chad Basin Commission, among others.

Nasidi Aishatu Umar is a highly accomplished HR manager with extensive experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, and organizational development. Currently serving as the Head of Training and Human Capital Development at the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), she has a proven track record of fostering a positive workplace culture and optimizing employee performance. In her role, she has successfully led initiatives that significantly improved staff training programs and contributed to the strategic development of the organization.

Nasidi’s career spans over a decade, during which she has held various key positions, including Head of Education Section and Admin Officer at the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN). Her leadership and organizational skills have been instrumental in advancing the educational initiatives of CPN, where she also served as the Personal Assistant to the Registrar/CEO.

With a strong academic background, including a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Abuja and an LLB in Law from the National Open University of Nigeria, Nasidi combines her in-depth knowledge with practical experience. She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management and a certified mediator accredited by ADR/ODR International.

Nasidi’s commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by her ability to work effectively under pressure, her problem-solving attitude, and her strong communication skills. She is dedicated to continuous learning and personal growth, making her a valuable asset to any forward-thinking organization.

Mr. Oseloka Henry OBAZE (OHO) is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Selonnes Consult Ltd., a policy, governance and management consulting and advisory firm.

He assumed office on 9th June 2015. As a governance, policy and management consultant, Obaze has worked and interfaced in an advisory capacity and as a resource person for several governmental and non-governmental bodies, development agencies, foundations and political campaign organizations.

Presently Mr. Obaze serves as the Campaign Manager for the Obi-Datti 2023 Presidential Campaign Organization. In 2019, he served as the Anambra State Chairman of the Atiku-Obi Presidential Campaign Council. He contested for the Anambra State governorship in 2017, as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Mr. Obaze was the Secretary to the Anambra State Government (Secretary of State) from 29th June 2012 to 8th June 2015. Before that, he served as a United Nations official (1991-2012) and as a Nigerian Foreign Service Officer (1982-1991).

A seasoned international civil servant, diplomat and strategic policy advisor, Mr. Obaze has a diverse and substantial background in political processes, and a wealth of diplomatic, mediation, peace and security and conflict resolution experience in national and international affairs, including direct experience in working on countries facing complex challenges in Europe and Africa. From 2007 to 2012, Mr. Obaze was a Senior Political Affairs Officer and Policy Adviser with the United Nations Headquarters in New York and a senior member of the managerial team in the Security Council Branch, which services the U.N. Security Council. In that capacity, for five years he served as the Secretary of the Security Council Ad Hoc Working Group on Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa, and Trip Coordinator for Security Council missions.

Mr. Obaze holds a Masters of Arts in Political Science(MA) from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE (1980); and. Bachelors of Science in Political Science (B.S.) from Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln, NE. He holds a Certificate in Diplomacy from the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy, Lagos, Nigeria (1983); Certificate in Peacekeeping and Preventive Diplomacy from the UNITAR International Peace Academy Course, Burg Schilining, Austria (1996); Certificate in Early Warning and Preventive Measures from the U.N. System Staff College, Turin, Italy (1999); Certificate in Facilitation of Dialogue Process and Mediation Efforts for the Folke Bennedotte Academy, Sandon, Sweden (2007).

Mr Obaze is the author and co-author of six books: Joe Garba’s Legåcy (Exlibris, 2012); Regarscent Past ~ A Collection of Poems (Ben Bosah Books 2015); Here To Serve (Ben Bosah Books, 2016); and Prime Witness- Change And Policy Challenges In Buhari’s Nigeria (Safari Books, 2017); Waning Strength of Government (Parresia 2020); Africa’s Vision, A Second Anthology (Parresia, 2020), He is presently working on two books on governance in Nigeria ad his Third Anthology. He writes for major Nigerian dallies.

Born on 9th April, 1955, in Ogidi, Nigeria, he is a native of Ochuche Umuodu in Ogbaru LGA of  Anambra State. He is married with children. He has travelled to 67 countries.

With a robust career spanning over three decades, Amb. Ekpa has been a distinguished figure in the field of Diplomacy and International relations. Graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science in 1979, and a Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy (MILD) from the University of Lagos in 1989.

Amb. Ekpa served in the Nigeria Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1979 and dedicated a significant portion of his career to shaping and executing foreign policy until his retirement in 2010.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Amb. Ekpa is deeply committed to community service and mission work, reflecting a lifelong dedication to making a positive impact both locally and globally. Happily married and surrounded by family, He balances his professional legacy with an active and fulfilling social life.

Rev Fr George Omaku Ehusani was ordained priest of the Catholic Diocese of Lokoja on the Solemnity of Assumption, 15th of August, 1981 by the then bishop of the diocese, the late Most Reverend Alexius Makozi. He worked as Assistant Parish Priest of his home parish, Christ the King Catholic Church, Okene immediately after his ordination. He was later posted to the Teacher Training College in Ogori as a teacher and chaplain of the college. He was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Lokoja Diocesan Newspaper “The Light”, for many years starting from 1990. He later joined the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, becoming Deputy Secretary-General to the then Rev. Fr. Matthew Kukah (now bishop of Sokoto Diocese) and later the Secretary-General of the Secretariat. At the end of his tenure at the Secretariat, he went on sabbatical leave in Germany for a year. He returned to serve the Archdiocese of Abuja as Parish Priest of Church of the Assumption, Asokoro while setting up Lux Terra Leadership Foundation of which he is currently Executive Director.

Fr. George Ehusani is an accomplished theologian, author, preacher, teacher, administrator, musician, social commentator, activist, and above all, dedicated priest of the Most High. He has been a standout achiever in his many engagements, applying his remarkable talents and enormous energy to dream up ideas and initiatives that have substantially impacted many lives in diverse ways.

His call for prayers and support to mark his four decades of priestly life, encapsulates his vision and desire for a life of stillness and tranquillity, having exerted himself tirelessly and restlessly in the overwhelming will to change his world. In his reflection, he yearns to ‘BE MORE’ rather than to ‘DO MORE’ or to ‘HAVE MORE’. He prays for relief from life’s frenetic pace as he journeys into life’s second period.

Dr.Kabiru S. Chafe, who has over 35 years’ experience in primary research, has taught in the Department of History, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria from 1986 to 2018, when he voluntarily retired from the services of the University to fully devote his time to the activities of the Arewa Research and Development Programme (ARDP).

While in the services of ABU, he served as the Head of History Department; Dean of the Faculty Arts; Director of the Information & Communication Technology Directorate; and Director of Arewa House – Centre for Historical Documentation and Research. During the 1991/92 Academic Session, he won a Rockefeller Foundation’s African Scholars Sabbatical Award on “Reflections on Issues on Africa’s Development” and a result was a Senior Visiting fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS), University of Oxford, UK. Also, in 1994 he was awarded a Rhodes Scholar at the St. Anthonys College, University of Oxford, UK.

In the Nigeria’s political environment, Dr. Chafe was elected a Member of the Nigerian National Constitutional Conference of 1994/1995. He later served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Member of the Federal Executive Council, Federal Republic of Nigeria, between 1995 and 1998. He is currently, the Head of the ARDP, Kaduna.

Dr.Sonny Ogulewe was born in Imo State, the Eastern part of Nigeria at the peak of the Nigerian civil war. Educated at the University of Port-Harcourt, Imo State University, Owerri and University of Abuja, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political and Administrative Studies, a Masters Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy and a Doctorate Degree in International Relations respectively. His Doctorate Degree is with bias in peace and conflict resolution.

Appointed Personal Aide to the Hon. Minister of Information and National Orientation, 2000–2003, Personal Assistant to the Hon. Minister of Education, 2003-2005,Special Assistant to the Chief Whip, House of Representatives, Nigeria, 2007-2011, Special Assistant (Administration)to the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, 2011-2015, Senior Special Assistant (Budget Matters) to the Speaker, House of Representatives, 2015- to 2019. He is Lead Consultant, Fortnics Nig. Ltd, a public policy research firm. He is an author with several critical seminal publications to his credit. He is currently, the Lead Consultant.

He is happily married and the marriage is blessed with a boy and two girls. He is widely traveled both locally and internationally.

Paul Egunsola recently retired from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) as a Chief of Staff of the Mission. He has over 43 years’ experience in the field of diplomacy and international relations, and most notably as Chief of Staff (COS) within the United Nations missions in South Sudan and Liberia for 15 years. His diverse work experience, knowledge of complex multidimensional conflicts, and critical insight into the United Nations system has benefitted the organization and helped advance the implementation of the UN mandate in the peace keeping theatres he was deployed.

As a diplomat, with over 23 years in the Nigerian Foreign Service, he has extensive expertise engaging at the highest levels with government authorities. While in the Foreign Service, he served in several countries including the UK, Philippines, Morocco and United Nations (UN) in New York. During his time at the UN he served on the Nigerian delegation on the Security Council, focusing on African security challenges, including but not limited to the Rwandan Genocide, and Somalia, Sierra Leone and Liberia civil wars. As COS in UNMIL and UNMISS, he served as a liaison to the host government, and supported the establishment of high-level platforms to facilitate space for political engagement and negotiation, diffusing tensions in host and mission relations, and ensuring effective implementation of the Mission mandates.

Both in his capacities as a Nigerian diplomat, and during his in the UN, he worked closely with and advised Nigerian senior officials including Ministers, Ambassadors and Special Representatives to the Secretary-General (SRSG) on strategic and operational initiatives that ensured the effective implementation of organizational priorities. This included establishing and overseeing specialized structures and frameworks that facilitated executive direction and streamlined decision-making along policy and operational lines. He has significant experience in crisis management- preventing, managing, responding to, and mitigating multidimensional crises.

He worked closely with humanitarian and related agencies in South Sudan in finding sustainable solutions to the civilians in the UNMISS Protection of Civilians sites; four of which the Mission successfully redesignated to regular IDP camps during his tenure.

Throughout his tenure as Chief of Staff, advancing gender parity remained a key priority. Recognizing the vital role of diversity and equality in mandate implementation, he spearheaded the establishment of the first Gender Parity Task Force and served as its

Ambassador Ozo Nwobu is a retired career diplomat who in the course of his career served as Ambassador in Mozambique and Charge d’Affaires ai, in Cuba, amongst the many other positions he held in his diplomatic postings abroad. He was while at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson of the Ministry, Director of Global Institutions Division, and Director Africa Bilateral Affairs Department, a position he held before he disengaged from the Service in Dec, 2015 after 35 years of meritorious service to the Ministry and Nation.

Ambassador Ozo Nwobu has, on retirement, established the Dubmann Digital Archival and Consultancy Services which specializes on digitization of public and private records. He is a contributor to the Huffington Post and also an active member of the Association of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria (ARCAN), and the Secretary of the ARCAN Abuja, Branch and the ARCAN Foreign Policy Journal, which he also makes contributions to.

Ambassador Ibukun OLATIDOYE is presently the Director of the Pan African Institute for Global Affairs and Strategy (PAIGAS), Abuja, Nigeria. PAIGAS is a think-thank, training, research, consultancy and advocacy centre devoted to promotion of affirmative Pan African narrative of global affairs. A retired Nigerian Diplomat and former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the Developing Eight Countries for Economic Cooperation (D-8), a multilateral economic Organization based in Istanbul, Turkey. September 2011 – June 2015.

Amb. Olatidoye is a graduate of Philosophy at University of Lagos. He also has a Masters in International Law & Diplomacy, MILD (Jurisprudence & International Law) from the same University.

Amb. Dr. Anthonia A. Ekpa, PhD, OON, FIA, FIMC, FCPA, FACSA, FCILT, FinsTA, FITP, FIEPS is a distinguished Nigerian public servant, academic, ambassador, and consultant with over three decades of experience in governance, development management, and public sector reform. She has held several high-ranking positions within the Nigerian civil service, including Permanent Secretary roles in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Women Affairs, and Special Duties & Intergovernmental Affairs.

Her career spans over thirty years, during which she has led significant initiatives in transportation, organizational development, monitoring and evaluation, and human resources management. Dr. Ekpa has also been a key player in international projects, representing Nigeria on global platforms such as the United Nations and ECOWAS, particularly in the areas of road safety, transportation policy, and gender advocacy.

In addition to her public service, Dr. Ekpa has an extensive academic background. She has lectured in English and Communication at the University of Calabar and has contributed to educational development as a consultant and resource person in the UK and Nigeria.

Dr. Ekpa holds a PhD in English Language from the University of Ibadan, an MSc in Governance & Development Management from the University of Birmingham (as a Chevening Scholar), and is currently pursuing an MBA from UNICAF University, Zambia. She is also a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration and the Institute of Management Consultants.

Her contributions to public service and education have earned her numerous awards, including the Nigerian National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). Dr. Ekpa continues to serve as a consultant and advisor on various national and international boards, making significant impacts in the fields of governance, transportation, and gender equality.

Ambassador Adeyemi Dipeolu is a diplomat, economist, and public administrator. Until May 2023, he served as Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters in the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria.

Prior to this, Dr. Dipeolu was at the UN Economic Commission for Africa where he served as Coordinator of the Africa Trade Policy Centre, Chief of Staff and Director of the Capacity Development Division respectively. While at ECA he led work on Transformative Industrial Policy and on Conflict and Development in Africa. He was also Head of Secretariat of the High-Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa.

Before joining ECA, Dr. Dipeolu was in the Nigerian Foreign Service where he rose to the rank of Ambassador and served in Caracas, Addis Ababa, Pretoria and Geneva respectively. He was also deployed from the Foreign Service as a Special Assistant, Economic Coordination and Policy in the Office of the Chief of Staff to President Obasanjo.

Dr. Dipeolu is a Fellow of the Nigerian Economic Society and studied at the Universities of Ife, Oxford, Cambridge and South Africa. He is a Special Adviser to the Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CoDA), an Adjunct Professor at the Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance of the University of Cape Town, a Fellow of the Development Leadership Dialogue Institute of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and a Member of the AfCFTA Trade and Industrial Policy Advisory Council.

Kio Solomon Amieyeofori, MFR, served as Deputy Director General for Research and Analysis (DDGR&A) at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), from 2018 to 2022.

Before this role, he held various positions within the Nigerian Foreign Service. In New York, he was the Minister and Political Coordinator for the Nigerian delegation to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). In Geneva, he served as Minister for Disarmament Affairs and as a Delegate to the Conference on Disarmament.

Amieyeofori holds a Master of Science in Intelligence and Strategic Studies from the University of Wales in Britain, a Master of International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Lagos.

Saidu Mohammed Jallo graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria as a lawyer and is a holder of Masters in law (LLM) from University of Dundee, Scotland and Masters in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Started his working career in 1989 with Habib Nigeria Bank Limited and subsequently has acquired vast years of Managerial experience by holding positions such as Head Corporate Services, Company Secretary and Legal Adviser (New Africa Merchant Bank), Principal Legal Officer (National Board for Community Banks), Company Secretary/ Legal/ Adviser (Intercity Bank Plc), Regional Manager and later Zonal Head of Unity Bank Plc. He was Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (March 2011 to June 2022). In all these institutions he was saddled with several ad-hoc responsibilities through Committees membership and or Task Forces.

He acquired early education from LEA Primary School, Rigachikun, Kaduna, Barewa College Zaria, Claverham Community College, Sussex England and Bexhill Sixth Form College, England. Over the years Saidu Jallo has received trainings in both local and international institutions, including Management courses organised by Euro Money, Lagos business School, London Business School, Wharton School and Harvard Business School.

Saidu has served as Director on a number of boards including Unity Trustees Ltd, Kada Micro Finance Bank Ltd and Union Bank Plc and is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigeria Bar Association, Institute of Debt Recovery Practitioners of Nigeria, Institute of Loan and Risk Management, Insititute of Directors, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSANN), Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN), Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, Kaduna Chamber of Commerce , Industry Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) and the Nigeria -Turkish Business Council.

Saidu Jallo enjoys farming, travelling and walking. He is married with children and is a strong advocate for good Corporate Governance practice.

Ambassador Abdullahi A. Omaki, nooc, fsma, retired from the Nigerian Foreign Service in June 2013, after thirty-three and a half years of meritorious service. He had a distinguished service career, which took him across Europe (UK and Netherlands), the USA (Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the UN in New York), and anchoring in Africa (Central Africa Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and Chad), where he served as Head of Chancery in Bangui, Consul-General in Bata and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Ndjamena-Chad. He relates easily with issues of the sub-regional security and socioeconomic development which he has “consistently argued must be holistically viewed and addressed from the prisms of both bilateral and multilateral instrumentalities. These ways, he believes, would enhance harmony and cohesiveness which are cornerstones for sustainable good governance and peace”. Some of his colleagues address him as a “Desert Diplomat” while others politely refer to him as the “Sahel Diplomat”, both of which he proudly accepts.

In addition to his overseas tours of duties in the three continents, Ambassador Abdullahi Omaki has diligently served in various Divisions and Departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria. These services spanned across Administration, Protocol, West Africa Department, International Organisations, and Inspectorate Departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was Deputy Director in the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director of the International Organizations Department, and Under-Secretary (Regions and International Originations Directorate).

Upon retirement from service in June 2013, he became the Pioneer Executive Director of the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy, and Development (SCDDD) from February 2014 to June 2020. In that capacity, he demonstrated leadership styles that promoted interpersonal skills leading to effective teamwork that contributed to leading the SCDDD to prominence.

In addition to the Mid-level and Senior-level Diplomatic Certificate courses of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, he holds a BSc degree in Political Science, ABU Zaira, 1979 and an MA Degree in International Relations and Development, of the Institute of Social Studies, 1988, The Hague, The Netherlands.

In June 2020, he was appointed as Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, domiciled in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President. In this capacity, he contributed to speeches, statements, analyses of global socio-economic and political events as well as advice and recommendations.

In all of these positions, he garnered experiences that have become an eclectic mix of competencies that have contributed to driving Governance and Organisational priorities in complex situations.

He is the Founder and Executive Vice- Chairman of the ABDULLAHI OMAKI COMMUNITY PEACE INITIATIVE NETWORK (AOCPIN). He is currently, a member of the Body of Neutrals (Mediator) of the Nigeria’s Up-stream Petroleum Regulatory Commission’s Alternative Disputes Resolution Centre (ADRC).

Timothy Anthony Anjide is a seasoned public administrator with extensive experience in government service, notably in Nasarawa and Plateau States. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ogun State in 1979.

His career spans various roles, including Information Officer and Director at the Plateau State Government. He held key positions such as Registrar at Plateau State Polytechnic, Director of the Plateau State Liaison Office in Lagos, and Secretary of the Plateau State Tourism Board.

In Nasarawa State, Anjide served as Permanent Secretary in multiple ministries, including Government House Administration and the Ministry of Works, Transport, and Housing. He was also appointed Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government under the administrations of Alhaji (Dr.) Abdullahi Adamu and Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Akwe Doma, from 2007 to 2011.

Beyond his administrative roles, Mr. Anjide has served on numerous committees and boards, including the Nigeria Students Loan Board and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). He has been actively involved in public and community engagements, serving as Chairman and member of several high-level investigative, reconciliation, and advisory committees in Nasarawa State.

In recognition of his contributions, he received the WOWICAN North Central Zone Merit Award for selfless service in 2019 and the Fellowship Award from Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, in 2023. He enjoys Reading, writing and homiletics and exegeses.

Prof. Umara Ibrahim Gudumbali is a Professor of Political Science & International Relations in the University of Maiduguri. An Almajiri who fully memorized 60 Hizb of Holy Qur’an, and later joined Western education in the late 80s.

Prof. Umara today is a renowned Orator and an eloquent speaker, a professional in international diplomacy, and a scientist in world politics.

Chidy is a skilled Mediator, Conflict Manager, and Seasoned Negotiator, 0possessing a unique blend of expertise in Preventive Diplomacy, Compassionate Listening, Dialogue Facilitation, Workplace Conflict Management, Workplace Ombudsman, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes. He is also a Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations Consultant.

Chidy Lasbrey Martins brings a distinguished background in conflict resolution, having honed his skills through years of hands-on experience. With a keen understanding of interpersonal dynamics, he has successfully mediated and managed a myriad of conflicts, ranging from interpersonal disputes to complex organizational challenges.

He is currently, a member of the Body of Neutrals (Mediator) of the Nigeria’s Up-stream Petroleum Regulatory Commission’s Alternative Disputes Resolution Centre (ADRC).

Dr. Emmanuel Baba Mamman is a staff of the Institute for Peace & Conflict Resolution (IPCR), a Parastatal Agency under the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja. For twenty-four years since his employment at the Institute, he has been working as a researcher and policy analyst. Dr. Mamman has wide experience and skills in research, policy advisory, problem analysis, program design and intervention in various aspects of policy, governance, peace and conflict resolution.

As a peace & conflict resolution scholar and practitioner, Dr. Mamman has done extensive publications on various issues of peace and conflict in Nigeria and Africa; and Policy advisory to government and other stakeholders on various issues of peace and conflict resolution. He consults for the UNDP, UNESCO & others, & has conducted various trainings on peace building and development, conflict sensitive development, conflict sensitive reporting during elections and main-streaming gender in peace building and conflict resolution. He has also trained several members of civil society organizations in conflict prevention, conflict resolution, peace building and peace promotion techniques in Nigeria.

Dr. Mamman holds a Ph.D in Public Policy & Administration (Walden University, Minnesota, USA), and is currently Director of Research, Conflict Prevention & Resolution (Internal) at the IPCR and is a Member of Society for Peace Studies and Practice (Nigeria); Member, Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators, Nigeria; Member, Network of African Peace Builders (NAPS), Nigeria; Member, American Society of Public Administration (ASPA) US; and Member, Board of Trustees, Global Peace Development, Nigeria.

Dr. Mamman is a Nigerian and a civil servant; an individual with amiable personality and an impeccable character. He is happily married and blessed with children.

Ambassador Usman Ari Ogah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has over three decades of extensive experience in international relations and diplomacy. He served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1993 until his retirement in January 2024.

During his illustrious career, Amb. Ogah rose to the position of Director and served as the Consul General of Nigeria to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. He has held several ambassadorial positions, including Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia and the Republic of Timor-Leste. Additionally, he represented Nigeria as the Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). His diplomatic service also extended to postings in Paris, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Greece and Argentina.

Amb. Ogah’s vast experience in diplomacy, In addition to his strategic approach to peacebuilding, makes him an invaluable asset. His work is guided by a deep commitment to fostering sustainable peace through a whole-of-society approach, engaging diverse stakeholders to address the root causes of conflict. Happily married with children, Amb. Ogah’s life and career reflect a profound dedication to promoting peace and stability on a global scale.

Ambassador Mohammed A. Atose was born on January 15, 1961, in Keana, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. He is a highly respected Nigerian diplomat, economist, and public servant with a distinguished career spanning over three decades.

Atose’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Economics from Bayero University Kano (BUK) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Economics from the University of Jos (UNIJOS), equipping him with a solid foundation for his extensive service in government and international relations. His career highlights include many roles within the Foreign Service, where he served in various capacities, and rose to the rank of Director. His expertise spans various fields of diplomacy, with postings in Addis Ababa, Moscow, and Brussels, among others in addition to some specialized skills.

Following his retirement from public service, Ambassador Atose transitioned to the private sector as the Executive Director of Corporate Services at property development private company—Tom Hawksworth Limited (THL). In this role, he manages external communications, strategic business planning, and stakeholder relations, leveraging his extensive diplomatic and management experience to drive organizational growth.

Additionally, he has ventured into agriculture as the sole owner of MAATOS Farm in Keana and Al-Ahad Rice Mill at Lafia, contributing to national food security through farming and food processing.

Amb. Atose is Multilingual, he speaks English, Hausa, Alago, Amharic, Tiv, Idoma, Agatu, and Mandarin. In his leisure time, he enjoys walking, cycling, driving, reading, gardening and a passion for aviculture.

Mrs. Panritmwa Odoh is a seasoned Project Manager with 7 years of experience in designing and implementing projects that enhance operational efficiency and business outcomes She serves as the Lead Programs Officer and is dedicated to driving impactful peace initiatives through a unique whole-of-the-society approach. Her passion for social justice and human rights fuels her commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable peace in communities and building resilient communities where peace can thrive.

At AOCPIN, Panritmwa is not only a leader in program development but also a mentor and advocate for collaborative efforts that empower youth and women in communities to take ownership of not just their peacebuilding journeys but their lives as a whole. Her work continues to inspire change and drive progress toward a more peaceful and equitable world. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Abuja. 

Panritmwa works closely with diverse stakeholders—ranging from local communities and civil society organizations to government agencies and international partners—to design and implement innovative programs that address the root causes of conflict.

Dr. Abdulrahman Abu Hamisu holds a degree in Political Economy and Development Studies from the University of Abuja. With extensive classroom and field experience, he specializes in areas such as peace-building, dialogue, youth issues, terrorism, and counter-extremism.
Since November 2016, Dr. Hamisu has been actively involved in researching and implementing counter-extremism measures for the Federal Government of Nigeria. He contributed to the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative (PCNI) and represented the Committee on the National Steering Committee of Operation Safe Corridor, focusing on the deradicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration of former Boko Haram members.
Additionally, he has worked with the Defence Intelligence Agency and the Office of the National Security Adviser on various initiatives, including the Disengagement, Disassociation, Reintegration, and Reconciliation (DDRR) Action Plan 2019 led by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Dr. Hamisu has facilitated numerous dialogues, including those between the Armed Forces and media on Boko Haram coverage, as well as between various communities affected by Boko Haram. His work extends to training traditional and religious leaders, Shariah court judges, and Kannywood actors on conflict resolution and transitional justice.

He has also conducted research and presented papers on de-radicalization, non-kinetic force, and strategic communication in conflict environments, collaborating with UNODC and the Nigeria Army Resources Centre. Currently, Dr. Hamisu is part of a peace research team investigating the connection between corruption and insecurity in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Prof. Ogah Musa Ari is an Associate Professor of Political Science, with specialization in International Relations and Strategic Studies at the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
